Neotechnology has been working hard to develop demonstration videos of our flagship product Amicus POS. The videos are recorded screencasts demonstrating various functionality in Amicus such as how to make sales, customer loyalty, product management and the like.

Neotechnology Business Systems have released a new point of sale software system specifically designed for small businesses called Amicus Lite. Amicus Lite uses the same intuitive user interface to the premium versions of Amicus; however, a number of the features that smaller organisations never use have been removed.

Amicus Lite is designed to be used by smaller organisations, such as cafes, that do not require the range of functionality that the premium versions of Amicus POS offer. Amicus Lite offers far more than an ordinary cash register by providing the user with valuable sales and customer information.

Point of sale software, Amicus, officially works with Windows Server 2008 R2, the most recent release in the Microsoft Server series!

Amicus POS is an advanced databases system, which uses a server to store important information, either within the POS terminal or on a separate server, depending on business requirements. Using a database increases transaction speed, stores years worth of transaction history, allows for storage of customer information and decreases the chance of data corruption.

Windows Server 2008 R2 is 45 times faster than Windows Server 2003, provides users with increased server security, and reduces administrative overheads. By completing the â€œWorks with Windows Server 2008 R2â€ Neotechnology Business Systems is ensuring users of Amicus POS software can select the server that best suits their organisations needs.

Just over a week ago on Friday 22 January, NBS held a fundraising BBQ and raffle to raise money for the Red Cross Haiti Appeal. The raffle was drawn on Friday 29 January. This Friday 22nd of January Neotechnology Business Systems will be hosting a fundraising barbeque at Tasmanian Technopark to help raise funds in support of the recent Haiti earthquake.

The barbeque will be located on the grass opposite the Technopark reception between 12 and 2 pm, every one is welcome and encouraged to attend. Sausages and soft drinks will be $2 each with all proceeds being donated to The Australian Red Cross Haiti Earthquake Appeal.

Neotechnology Business Systems are now a member of the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI). NBS joined the TCCI to take advantage of the many benefits offered and to become more involved with the business community in the State.

One of the first events attended after becoming a member was the Small Business Expo held at Wrest Point Casino from 12 â€“ 13 November. The Expo had some great speakers during luncheons, breakfasts and evening networking events as well as over the course of the two days. A range of exhibition stands also offered many services for small businesses.

The TCCI is an independent membership organisation which seeks to positively lead the Tasmanian business community by ensuring the best interests of all their members are represented at a Regional, State, National and even International level. Second round of Amicus POS group training held this week!

Following on from our very successful group training session for Amicus Authorised Partners in September, the October session started today. Minor changes have been made to the training program after taking on board feedback from the last session.

The training teaches partners how to install and set-up Amicus POS for end users, including all components such as setting up the server, integrating peripherals, customising the touch screen interface and setting up user groups.

Many partners already have an understanding of server, hardware and POS concepts however this training will ensure partners are confident in installing, supporting and training end users in Amicus point of sale and business management system. This includes all the different modules such as restaurant and cafe (hospitality), supermarkets and general retail, and fuel.

Neotechnology Business Systems supports The University of Tasmania by working with students to assist them gain â€˜real worldâ€™ software development experience.

A computing and information system unit requires students to work on a team project to develop a software application. Businesses submit projects, by submitting a project spec, and then students choose projects which they are intersted in. The point of sale software demos show you how easy the Amicus POS system is to use and lets you view the intuitive user interface. The touch screen sales interface is customisable so demo versions of the software may look different to the ones shown in the videos.

The Amicus POS demo videos show some basic point of sale software features and do not cover the fuel outlet module, the restaurant module, the cafe module or all retail features available.

The training will teach partners how to install and set-up Amicus for end users, including all components such as setting up the server, integrating peripherals, customising the touchscreen interface and setting up user groups.

Previously training has been done on a one-on-one basis, with group training hoped to enhance the learning process as different partners will have different questions covering a wide range of topics.

NBS just renewed their relationship with Cisco Systems, continuing to be a Cisco Registered Partner. This relationship means NBS can take advantage of Cisco programs and support and highlights the strength of the implementation and support team.

The NBS implementation and support team have ample experience in setting up Cisco equipment and systems, with the installation of a Cisco network in Vanuatu a good example. Amicus, point of sale and business management system was set up in Vanuatu and required a WAN (Wide Area Network) in order to be able to sync between sites, with no stable internet connection available, NBS set up their own network using Cisco equipment. Neotechnology Business Systems, a specialist POS provider, currently have a team in Vanuatu implementing the latest Amicus POS version. Au Bon Marche, the largest and most successful supermarket chain in Vanuatu has 4 supermarkets, 3 petrol stations and a wholesale business.

Updating the point of sale system for such a large enterprise is a lengthy process with the technical support team away for up to two weeks. Extensive testing is carried out in Australia first and then also again onsite in Vanuatu.

The development team have been hard at it again, with two great new features for Amicus POS released!

Amicus Hospitality POS now has advanced table management features including floor plan creation, using drag and drop functionality to move tables around using the simple touch screen interface. To make a table bigger, just use your finger to stretch the table!
Amicus POS now has a built in redundancy in the unlikely event that the server goes down, with the terminals still able to function and automatic reconciliation and updating when the server goes back online.

Shirly Sareyka, Business Development Manager for Neotechnology was interviewed for the recent publication of Convenience World.

The magazine is a bi-monthly magazine servicing convenience stores, newsagents and tobacconists in Australia.

The article discussed Neotechnologyâ€™s premier point of sale software Amicus, in particular the fuel module which is suited to services stations. Using the Amicus fuel module to manage the pumps and POS can assist services stations meet SIRA reporting regulations and manage the retail side of the business.

Online version of the Amicus user manual released!

Neotechnology have also been busy improving the Amicus POS user manual by putting it online making it more easy to use.

Previously over 400 pages (PDF document), it is now available online and can now be tailored to suit specific tasks.

For example, if you have an employee who works only in the bar you will be able to select the section of the user manual that refers only to the bar sales screen, not the whole point of sale system. The means less time spent on reading irrelevant sections of the user manual and more time spent on serving customers.

The Neotechnology Business Systems Sales and Marketing team spent last week in Sydney at CeBIT.

CeBIT was held at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Darling Habour from 12 - 14 May. It is the biggest ICT conference in Australia and was the perfect place to showcase Amicus, our premier point of sale and business management system.

As usual, where has the year gone?!

12 months have once again disappeared and itâ€™s time to celebrate the end of 2008 and start revitalised in 2009. We at Neotechnology would like to wish you and your team a very Merry Christmas and a happy and safe New Years!

Over the break the Neotechnology offices will be closed on the 24th of December and reopening on the 5th of January.
